SAPULPA, Oklahoma – Despite making just one field goal in the first half against Jenks on Saturday, the Union Lady Redskins advanced to the 6A state quarterfinals with a 31-26 win over the Lady Trojans.
Imani Davis led the Lady Redskins with nine points. Tori Peters and Carrington Fox added seven points apiece.
Fox opened the scoring with a tough layup in the lane. The hoop was the only field goal of the first two quarters for Union. They hit 13 free throws in the half to tie the game at 15 heading to the locker room.
Jenks started strong from behind the arc. Whitney Bjornson knocked down a pair of three-pointers in the first quarter to give the Lady Trojans an early lead. The shooting touch faded for Jenks in the second quarter. They only scored four points, allowing Union to get back into the game.
