EDMOND, Oklahoma -- The Edmond Santa Fe girls continued their impressive start to the season Tuesday by holding off Putnam City for a 47-40 victory.
Edmond Santa Fe came into the night ranked No. 2 in Class 6A, but PCO gave the Lady Wolves a run for their money. Putnam City shut down OU recruit Courtney Walker in the first half, holding her to just five points while building a 23-19 halftime lead.
However, Walker came alive in the second half. She scored 18 points in the half and helped lead Santa Fe through three lead changes and build an advantage that PCO could not overcome.
Walker’s 23 points was a game high, but teammate Sophia Mahmoodjanloo added 12 points. Jaclyn Becker led Putnam City with 16.
The Lady Wolves are now 12-1 on the season, while PCO drops to 9-4.
