TULSA, Oklahoma -- Booker T. Washington’s Calvin Barnett was officially named Monday as a participant in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Barnett was presented with his game jersey in front of friends, family and his teammates at a press conference in the school’s field house. The defensive tackle is one of approximately 90 high school football players chosen to play in the game.
“It feels wonderful,” Barnett said. “There’s no higher you can go if you ask me.”
Barnett committed to Oklahoma State and says he will play defensive tackle at the next level. Despite all the extra attention, Barnett remains firm in his commitment to the Cowboys.
“I just love the atmosphere of the games,” Barnett said. “At game time all the fan support is just OSU, OSU, OSU. It doesn’t really get better than that.”
The U.S. Army All-American Bowl will take place Jan. 9, 2010.
