SPERRY, Oklahoma – Sperry’s playoff magic continues for at least one more week.
After upsetting Sequoyah-Tahlequah last week on the road, the Pirates returned home to get a convincing 55-22 victory over visiting Stigler.
Sperry struck early thanks to Aaron Beats, who burst through the defense for a long touchdown run in the first quarter. After the two-point conversion, the Pirates were up 8-0.
Stigler would respond quickly, however, as Jarrett Radford hit Gaven Guthrie for a touchdown, and the Panthers would also add a two-point conversion to tie the game at eight.
The game wasn’t very close after that, however. Sperry rattled off 33 unanswered points and would have a 41-8 lead in the fourth quarter. Despite a couple late scores from Stigler, Sperry easily advanced with the 55-22 win.
Sperry (8-4) advances to play Kingfisher in the state quarterfinals. Stigler finishes its season at 8-4.
