BEGGS, Oklahoma –Bob Craig’s Beggs Demon squad must like playing at its new stadium. The Demons entered Thursday night’s game against Eufaula 3-1 at home in 2009, with the lone loss coming in Week 3 shootout with Sperry.
Thursday night, the Ironheads were Beggs’ latest visiting victims, losing to the Demons, 41-14.
Beggs got great games from the usual suspects. Trailing in the first quarter by a touchdown, sophomore quarterback Ramsey Hamilton tossed to Mikeal Devonshire, and the senior tailback weaved his way up the Demon sideline for a 31-yard score to cut Eufaula’s lead to 7-6.
On the next possession, Eufaula quarterback Daniel Salters threw a ball wide of his intended receiver and right into the arms of Zach Eggleston. Eggleston returned the interception for a score, and the Demons took a seven-point lead after Hamilton found Blair Williams in the back of the endzone for the two-point conversion.
Beggs would cruise from there. The defense held the Ironheads to just 14 points. Coming in, the unit had allowed 17 points per game.
With the win, Beggs improves to 4-1 at home this season. The Demons are 4-0 to start district play and hit the road next week. Beggs will travel to Prague to take on the Red Devils.
