OWASSO, Oklahoma – The preseason goals for the Owasso Rams got hit hard during summer workouts. Numerous starters and key role players all went down in practice. Two of those starters will return to the field this Thursday against Ponca City.
Senior offensive lineman Trent Spurgeon and junior quarterback Joe Lindsey will hit the field for the Rams. The duo should provide some punch in a lineup that has been up-and-down this season on offense.
Spurgeon, a 6’8”, 270-pound Arizona commit, will see the field for the first time in 2009. Spurgeon missed the first six weeks when he broke his left leg in workouts. He is regarded as one of the top offensive line prospects in Oklahoma.
Lindsey will take over the starting job from sophomore Kason Key. Key led the Rams to a 3-3 record, averaging 8.1 points per game. Rams head coach Bill Patterson says Lindsey adds leadership to the Owasso offense and has a big arm.
Owasso travels to Ponca City this Thursday night at 7:30.
