Charges Filed In Catoosa Boy's Death

WAGONER COUNTY, Oklahoma -- The father and mother of a 15-month-old boy who died Friday, July 15, 2011 at a Tulsa hospital have been charged in connection with his death.

Mark Nichols, 21, is charged with first degree murder-child abuse and his wife, Lacie Nichols, 19, is charged with enabling child abuse.

Catoosa Police were called to a Tulsa hospital last Thursday to investigate a report of child abuse. Police say the boy had a fractured skull, broken ribs and internal bleeding.

The boy, Maverick died the next morning.

The state Medical Examiner's Office ruled the death a homicide.
