PHOENIX – Teresa Edwards' debut as interim coach didn't exactly go like she had hoped.

The Phoenix Mercury did not take it easy on her, handing the Tulsa Shock a 102-63 loss on Sunday night.

Edwards took over the reins after former coach Nolan Richardson resigned on Friday night following a loss against Phoenix.

But instead of a breath of fresh air jump-starting the Shock, they gave up many of the same statistics that have resulted in a WNBA-worst 1-11 start.

The Shock allowed Phoenix to shoot 60 percent from the field, while shooting just 37.5 percent themselves.

Phoenix connected on 8-of-12 shots from 3-point range.

The result of the game was hardly in question from the beginning, as the Mercury started off with a 21-3 lead.

Tulsa's highlight offensively was scoring 11 points in the final 3:46 of the first half, but by that point the Shock trailed by 32.

Tiffany Jackson led all scorers in the game with 19 points for the Shock, and Liz Cambage had 15 points off the bench.

Edwards will continue to seek out her first win at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday against Chicago.
