TULSA, Oklahoma – Another person has died as result of the massive tornado that ripped through Joplin, Missouri a month and a half ago.
That brings the total number of people killed to 159.
After seeing the devastation in Joplin first hand, some Tulsa students decided to help out.
Students from Bishop Kelly and Marquette Catholic Schools held a car wash at 41st and Peoria Friday afternoon to raise money for Joplin.
"When my family was coming back from Tulsa they went through Joplin just honestly minutes before the tornado happened and so I figured since that could have been my family in all that, I just felt like I had to do something and the car wash is the first thing that came to mind," Abbey Theban said.
The group raised a total of $1,315.09, and Abbey says all of it is going to the American Red Cross to help in Joplin.
