OWASSO, Oklahoma -- Frogs croak, frogs sing, some even whistle, but have you ever heard of barking frogs? An Owasso man told News On 6 he found one or some barking frogs.
"I was sitting on the front porch and I heard this barking noise, and I thought it was one of my neighbor's dogs," Tom Brasso said.
Brasso said the frog would start barking every evening around 9 p.m. So finally he went out with a flashlight and finally shot video of the barking frog.
He shot the video with a pen camera; the top is a thumb drive and the bottom is a real ball-point. The camera records audio and video, but there's no view finder so you sort of have to guess where you are pointing.
Brasso did some research on the internet about barking frogs.
"They are primarily in Mexico and Southeast Arizona, to find them up here seems rather unique to me," he said.
He wonders if changing climate or the shift in the magnetic pole or something else might explain a family of barking frogs moving into his neighborhood.
"Come by at 9 and they'll probably put on a show for you," he said.
Rick tried to find a barking frog expert, but frog experts are few and far between the day after a holiday. If you have information Rick would love to hear from you.
