DES MOINES, Iowa – Tulsa's postseason hopes are all but gone after the Talons dropped a heartbreaker on the road to the Iowa Barnstormers Friday night, 55-53. It's their second straight loss by less than a touchdown.

The Talons were just a few seconds too late. Tulsa converted what looked to be a game-winning 16-yard field goal with no time left but was flagged for delay of game. The Barnstormers escaped with the dramatic victory after Juan Bongarra pushed his second game-winning attempt just outside the right upright.

Justin Allgood was efficient at quarterback for Tulsa, throwing for 241 yards and 5 touchdowns without turning the ball over. Al Hunt and Brandon Copeland dropped easy passes in the fourth quarter that could have sealed the win for the Talons. Troy McBroom finished with 9 catches for 101 yards and two scores.

Tulsa led 32-30 at halftime in a game that they needed to win. Now the team must hope for a series of teams to lose across Saturday's Arena schedule. Iowa was outgained by Tulsa 289 yards to 255.

Bongarra beat the Barnstormers with a long distance field goal at the BOK Center in April with no time left. The 61-60 win sparked Tulsa to three wins in four weeks. Since then, the Talons are just 2-4.

The Talons are back on the field at the BOK Center against Tampa Bay on July 9th.
