TULSA, Oklahoma -- A Tulsa business is helping some sick children celebrate summer.
Friday was National Flip-Flop day at Tropical Smoothie Cafes across the country. They were giving out free smoothies to folks wearing flip-flops.
Starting Friday and going through June 26, the company will donate a portion of its smoothie sales to Camp Sunshine, a fun and encouraging camp for children who are battling a terminal illness and their families.
For the Tulsa Hills store owner, the concept is personal.
"What we're trying to do is send a local family from the Tulsa area to camp. Since we didn't have one of these franchises here we probably haven't ever sent any of our own families here," Tim Smallwood, Tropical Café owner, said.
Camp Sunshine has been helping children and their families for 27 years.
