BARTLESVILLE, Oklahoma -- A 16-year veteran of the Bartlesville Police Department has filed a $6 million federal lawsuit against the city of Bartlesville and the Bartlesville Fraternal Order of Police.

Elizabeth Mitchell alleges in the suit that the department has "repeatedly and systematically harassed" her with "a barrage of sexual references, obscene comments, sexually suggestive physical gestures and exposure to inappropriate photographs or pictures, created a work environment so hostile that it affected" her "ability to perform her police duties."

Read the complaint filed in federal court in Tulsa.

Her complaint also states she brought her concerns to the attention of her supervisors and "no corrective action was ever taken, and she was told her grievances had no merit."

The complaint is asking for $3 million in actual damages and $3 million in punitive damages.
