According to the Hartford Courant, the University of Connecticut absorbed a $1.6 million dollar financial beating in addition to the 48-20 drubbing its football team took in the Fiesta Bowl.<BR/>The school said on Wednesday that it was forced to eat nearly $2.7 million dollars in tickets.  Each school was forced to take on 17,500 tickets and was financially responsible for all of those tickets no matter how many they sold.<BR/>When you add lost ticket money with travel expenses and other costs of going to the Fiesta Bowl, the school spent nearly $4.3 million dollars on the trip.<BR/>The Huskies allotment of Big East conference bowl money added up to about $2.7 million.  <BR/>I guess the $1.6 million dollar loss bought them 4 hours of national television time.<BR/>I think I would have spent it on a Super Bowl ad instead.<BR/>I wonder what side of the BCS vs. football playoff argument University of Connecticut officials are on now.  <BR/>May 26th, 2011
