Getting to spend this day with family is priceless.
At bedtime last night my oldest said “Let’s each say something we’re thankful for.” It all came back to family, and being together. At least it did after one of them said “ice cream,” but we’ll give her a pass. After all she does love to make us laugh.
It’s also time to be thankful for what’s become a much more successful season of football in the state than first thought. Sure, the Sooners had troubles in Columbia and College Station and aren’t in the national title chase, but overall there’s a lot to celebrate.
Either OU or OSU will play for a Big 12 Championship.
TU has a shot Friday at earning a Conference USA title game berth.
The teams’ combined records are 27-6. You’d be hard pressed to find another state whose teams have that kind of winning percentage.
The atmosphere will be crazy in Stillwater this weekend. ESPN’s College GameDay will ensure extra attention and a national audience.
When all this began, Oklahoma figured to possibly be in this position. No one thought OSU would, and Tulsa was somewhere close.
Let’s all be thankful for the pleasant surprises as the final regular season action unfolds.
Happy Thanksgiving!
May 26th, 2011
