Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin has been terrific- he’s 3rd in the nation this week in total offense, is completing 2 out of every 3 passes and runs the ball dangerously well. It may well be the toughest test of OSU’s defense so far this season.
But there’s a debate out there. Does Robert Griffin have what it takes to be an NFL quarterback?
Since missing most of last season after suffering a knee injury, Griffin has come back as a better passer, and he escapes the pocket still looking to throw. Running is what separates this Big 12 track titleist from other signal callers, but he has more talent to throw to than he ever has, and he’s taking advantage of it.
Some say Griffin could be a scary pro QB. Others say he’s too unconventional.
Watch for yourself. Watch Griffin’s footwork, his release, his touch on medium-range and short passes on Saturday. Watch him make plays, the kind that win games in college, and then determine for yourself whether those plays translate to the next level.
Robert Griffin is good enough to help Baylor pull the upset of OSU- IF the Bears’ defense puts together its best effort of the season. But don’t be surprised if the Cowboys can cause just enough mistakes (re: turnovers) to swing things in the home team’s favor.

May 26th, 2011
