FORTH WORTH, Texas – Oral Roberts came close to pulling off one of its biggest wins in some time, but the Golden Eagles couldn’t come through in the clutch in a 6-4 loss at No. 9 TCU.
Cam Schiller had a huge night, bringing in all four of TCU’s RBIs in the game, but it wasn’t enough.
The Horned Frogs struck first when Jantzen Witte drove in Brance Rivera to take a 1-0 lead in the first.
Witte wasn’t finished, for he drove in Kyle Von Tungeln with sacrifice fly in the third inning.
The Horned Frogs jumped out 4-0 after two more runs in the fourth.
Schiller got to work in the fifth inning, however, knocking in a two-run homer to half TCU’s lead.
Another pair of runs in the sixth increased TCU’s advantage, but Schiller came through once again, hitting a two-RBI double in the eighth to cut the score back to 6-4.
ORU had the go-ahead run at the plate twice in the top of the ninth but couldn’t convert at the end of the game.
Kyle Starratt earned the win for TCU while Brad Fisher got the loss.
Oral Roberts will head into its final series of the regular season as it starts a four-game home stand with Southern Utah at home.
First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
