STILLWATER, Okla. – The Cowgirls probably would have liked to have some momentum heading into the postseason.
But instead, Oklahoma State now has to simply focus on ending its skid after a 5-1 loss to Missouri resulted in OSU’s fourth straight loss.
The Cowgirls struggled on both sides of the ball. The offense managed just four hits on the day, but OSU also committed three errors in the field, allowing the Tigers three unearned runs.
Oklahoma State’s only run of the day came in the bottom of the first, when Mariah Gerhart scored, unearned, after a throwing error and a fielder’s choice.
But that was the only positive moment for the Cowgirls, who then gave up two runs in the second and third innings and another in the fourth.
Gerhart had two of OSU’s four hits and Alysia Hamilton drove in the only run.
Simone Freeman got the loss in the circle for OSU, throwing three innings and giving up two earned runs.
Chelsea Thomas got the victory for Missouri.
Oklahoma State will head to Lincoln, Neb. for a two-game series with the Huskers to finish out the regular season.
First pitch for Saturday’s matchup at Nebraska is 4:30 p.m.
