HAMILTON, Ont. – The Oklahoma City Barons’ inaugural season and first playoff appearance are over.
In a game that started off slowly scoring-wise, Hamilton eventually pulled away and came away with a 4-1 victory on Sunday in Ontario.
The Bulldogs clinched the North Division semifinal series four games to two and will take on the winner of the Lake Erie – Manitoba series in the North Division finals.
The Barons and Bulldogs remained scoreless throughout the first two periods, but OKC’s Alex Giroux broke the scoring drought 5:41 into the third period to put his team up 1-0.
But Hamilton did not take long to respond, with Nigel Dawes putting in the tying goal just more than a minute later.
From there the floodgates opened, with the Bulldogs registering the winning goal on a power play at 17:04 and picking up two empty net goals to increase the margin.
Martin Gerber picked up the loss in the goal for the Barons and Drew MacIntyre got the win for Hamilton.
