ROUND ROCK, Texas – OKC not only snapped a losing streak on Saturday, it did so in impressive fashion.
The RedHawks pitching staff stifled Round Rock’s bats in a 5-0 shutout on Saturday on the road.
The game was the fifth of eight straight games against the Express for Oklahoma City, which hosted Round Rock for four games before hitting the road to start four there.
OKC lost all four at home against the Express and had lost six straight before Saturday’s victory.
The RedHawks’ pitching staff – which on Saturday consisted of just Jordan Lyles and Ross Wolf – gave up only three hits on the night.
Lyles picked up the win, throwing seven innings and striking out three.
Michael Kirkman had a rough day pitching for Round Rock, giving up eight hits and three runs.
OKC got the scoring going in the top of the fourth with RBIs from Drew Locke and Collin DeLome.
Koby Clemens doubled in the top of the next inning to bring home Anderson Hernandez and take a 3-0 lead.
Robinson Cancel singled in the seventh inning to drive in Andrew Simunic and Anderson Hernandez for the final margin.
The extra-long series will continue on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. in Round Rock.
