TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Tulsa Golden Hurricane completed a two-game sweep of a three-game series against Southern Miss Saturday, in large part to Jordan Kinard’s no-hitter in the second contest.
It was the third career no-no for Kindard, who came within a strike of a perfect game. She walked one batter and struck out three to improve to 8-4 on the season. The no-hitter also marked the fourth no-no for the Golden Hurricane pitchers and the first for Kinard since her freshman year with TU. Kinard’s performance helped lead the team to an 8-0 shutout in game two.
The Golden Hurricane donned pink jerseys in their Saturday series, promoting NFCA StrikeOut Cancer. In the game one, 8-3 win over the Golden Eagles, Tulsa used the second inning to notch five runs and tacked on an additional three runs in the fourth to secure the win. Kelly Chapman hit two homers, one solo in second and one two-run bomb in the fourth in the TU victory. Freshman Aimee Creger threw the complete game, striking out 10 batters and allowing only two runs on five hits. She improved to 15-1 on the season.
Tulsa’s now 31-9 overall and 12-2 in Conference USA play, and will face Southern Miss against Sunday for the third and final game of the series.
