OSU Earns 1-0 Win Over Missouri State in Extra Innings

The two teams battled for eight innings before a sacrifice bunt allowed the Cowgirls to pull ahead by one run.

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri -- After seven scoreless innings, the No. 18 Oklahoma State Cowgirls squeaked out a 1-0 win Tuesday over the Missouri State Bears.

OSU’s Tamara Brown hit a sacrifice bunt in the top of the eighth to hit home Ari Morrison. Alysia Hamilton and Morrison hit back-to-back singles to lead off the inning, followed by Julie Ward reaching first off an MSU error to load the bases. The lone run one the game for Oklahoma State, which improved to 26-6 on the season.

OSU’s Simone Freeman started for the Cowgirls, throwing five innings, allowing just three hits while striking out three Bears batters. Kat Espinosa stepped in the circle in the sixth inning, allowing just one hit and striking out four to improve to 13-2 on the season.

The Bears’ Natalie Rose finished with the loss after throwing a complete game. She struck out eight Cowgirls batters, walked one and allowed seven hits in the eight innings.

OSU will host the North Texas Mean Green Wednesday at 5 p.m.
