NORMAN, Okla. – The Oklahoma baseball team’s recent skid continued Sunday with a 5-2 loss to Texas A&M.
The Aggies (15-5, 2-1) started the game’s scoring with a sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning by Charlie Curl. OU (17-5, 1-2) tied the game in the third with an RBI from Garrett Buechele, but A&M immediately responded with two more in the third to retake the lead.
Buechele blasted a solo home run in the fifth inning, but OU could not muster any more runs. Texas A&M got two more insurance runs in the seventh on a two-run double by Jacob House.
The Sooners connected on 10 hits and put runners on base in each of the first eight innings, but still could only drive in two runs.
Ross Stripling finished with a win for A&M after giving up both runs on seven hits in six innings. Burch Smith was credited with a loss after allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks in 3.2 innings.
Since starting the season on a school record 16-game winning streak, the Sooners now have lost five of their last six games. They will hit the road for their next series against Missouri, which begins at 6 p.m. Friday.
