TULSA, Oklahoma – The Tulsa Oilers picked a good time to get hot. The team had won 5 straight games and was just 1 point out of 2nd place in the Berry Conference.
Then, they ran into the Dayton Gems.
On Thursday, the Oilers and Gems played the only CHL game of the night. And it was one Tulsa would like to forget.
Dayton scored a pair of goals in the first period, and it was all downhill from there. The Gems put 3 more on the board in the 2nd and 3 more in the 3rd. And that was more than enough as they crush the Oilers 8-2.
Braden Walls and Jack Combs each scored a goal for the Oilers, but it wasn’t nearly enough for the team.
That loss snaps Tulsa’s 5-game winning streak. Fortunately, they’re still just a point behind Texas in the Berry Conference. The Oilers don’t have much time to dwell on this loss. They’ll be right back on the ice on Friday night when they play in Odessa.
