DENTON, Oklahoma -- Keilani Ricketts dominated the pitching circle Wednesday, throwing her 16th career complete game shutout and allow the Oklahoma Sooner bats to inch ahead of the North Texas Mean Green 3-0.

In the seven innings in the circle, Ricketts gave up just two hits and one walk. She recorded eight strikeouts to bring her season total to 92.

The No. 10 Sooners (13-5) got on the board in the second inning when Haley Nix led off with a single. Ricketts was walked with no outs. A sacrifice bunt by Chana’e Jones advanced the two baserunners and a double by Cierra Hughes on the next at-bat drove them both in for the 2-0 lead.

Oklahoma notched its third run in the third inning when Jones hit her first homer of the season.

North Texas’ Ashley Kirk finished with the loss for the Mean Green after throwing a complete game. She gave up three earned runs on five hits and walked two Sooners batters.

OU will next host No. 24 Auburn at 6 p.m. Friday.
