TULSA, Oklahoma -- A grand slam by No. 23 Wichita State’s Don Lambert sealed the Oral Robert’s fate, as the Golden Ealges fell to 1-3 on the season.
The grand slam put the Shockers ahead 7-2, capping off a late-game rally by Wichita State. The game was tied 1-1 until the eighth inning, when the Shockers put up six runs to make it a 7-1 game.
The Golden Eagles put some pressure on the Shockers in the bottom of the eighth, loading the bases, but Wichita State’s fielding was too much for ORU.
Wichita State’s Brian Flynn finished with the win after allowing only one run after pitching three innings, while Lars Liguori finished with his first loss of the season.
ORU next hosts SIU-Edwardsville for a three-game series, beginning Friday at 3 p.m
