STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- The Oklahoma State women’s basketball team hit seven consecutive free throws in the game’s closing 75 seconds to notch its second conference win of the season 62-52 over the Texas Tech Red Raiders Wednesday.
The game was tied 50-50 with 3:38 left when the majority of the late-game drama began.
Fifteen seconds later, Oklahoma State’s Tiffany Bias hit a layup to take a two point lead. However, Texas Tech’s Chynna Brown knocked down a jumper to knot the game yet again.
The scoring dried up for the next 90 seconds, then OSU began its string of free throws.
Star Tony Young was responsible for eight of the closing 10 free throws, the other two coming from Bias, to close the game and knock off the Red Raiders.
Young led all scorers, notching a 30-point, 13-rebound double-double in the win over Texas Tech, while Vicky McIntyre contributed 13 points and eight rebounds
Kierra Mallard led the charge for Texas Tech with 20 points and eight rebounds. Brown was the only other Red Raiders player to score in double-digits with 16 points.
The Cowgirls will be back in action Saturday, taking on the Nebraska Cornhuskers in a battle to avoid last place in the Big 12.
