NEW YORK – Thunder forward Kevin Durant will be a participant in the 2011 Foot Locker Three-Point Contest, the league announced Tuesday.

The shootout will take place on Saturday, Feb. 19 at the Staples Center as part of NBA All-Star Saturday Night.

Durant’s opponents for the competition are Ray Allen and Paul Pierce of the Celtics, Daniel Gibson of the Cavs, James Jones of the Heat and Dorell Wright of the Golden State Warriors.

Pierce won the event last season, scoring 20 points in the final round to capture the title.

The players will compete in the two-round competition with the top three finishers from the first round advancing to the finals.

Five shooting stations are set up around the perimeter, with five balls in each rack. The fifth (final) ball in each rack is marked with red white and blue panels and is considered the “money ball” – worth two points as opposed to one.

Contestants have one minute to make their way around the racks and make as many 3s as they can.

Durant has made 85 of his 245 3-point attempts this season for a percentage of 34.7.

He has made 369 of a career 1,031 attempts for a career percentage of 35.8.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are well represented at this year’s All-Star event with Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook both making the Western Conference All-Star team.

Durant will take part in the Three-Point Contest and Westbrook is a finalist to compete in the Taco Bells All-Star Skills Challenge.

Forward Serge Ibaka will take part in the dunk contest and the annual Rookie-Sophomore Challenge.

Coverage for the Three-Point Shootout and NBA All-Star Saturday Night will begin at 7 p.m. CST on TNT.
