CLEMSON, South Carolina-- Former Tulsa offensive coordinator Chad Morris is reportedly already at work at Clemson University.
Orangeandwhite.com, a website dedicated to the latest news about Clemson Tiger athletics, reports that Morris “officially arrived on campus and began his first day on the job while school officials worked to finalize his contract.”
“Morris confirmed via text message Wednesday that he was on campus and Clemson officials said that they were working to complete his contract (and) associate athletic director Katie Hill said it would not be released until the document had been executed by all parties” said orangeandwhite.com.
Monday, Tulsa University confirmed Morris departure from Tulsa to take the same position at Clemson, but Tuesday Tulsa head coach Todd Graham resigned as the head coach of the Golden Hurricane and since then rumors have swirled that Morris was being interviewed for the job.
The Austin American Statesman reported Tuesday that Morris was going to interview for the Tulsa head coaching job that evening.
Morris spent 16 years as a prep coach in Texas before TU gave him his first college job in January 2010. In his only season with the Golden Hurricane, Morris’ offense finished No. 5 in the nation.
Morris is expected to receive a four-year contract with Clemson and an annual salary of $450,000.
Earlier in January Clemson announced that offensive coordinator Bill Napier and running backs coach Andre Powell would not return to the program next season.
Orangeandwhitle.com also said that Furman wide receivers coach and Clemson alum Tony Elliott was on campus Wednesday and is expected to be named the Tigers’ new running backs coach.
