TULSA, Oklahoma – It’s not that surprising for a star like ORU’s Kevi Luper to post a double-double.
What is surprising is the way she did it.
Luper posted 34 points and had 10 steals for an unconventional double-double in leading the Golden Eagles to an 83-57 victory over the Northeastern State Riverhawks.
ORU wasted no time taking an early lead, and stretched it to an 11-point margin on a layup from Jordan Pyle just more than seven minutes in.
The Golden Eagles held the lead and increased it slightly heading into the break with a 43-25 advantage.
Oral Roberts started the second half strong as well, but an 11-2 run from the Riverhawks cut the lead to single digits (58-50) with 10 minutes left.
Northeastern State committed an astounding 34 turnovers but managed to outrebound the Golden Eagles, 37-30.
Pyle added 13 points and eight rebounds for Oral Roberts.
ORU (8-7) will head to South Dakota to take on the South Dakota State Jackrabbits at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
