GLENDALE, Arizona -- Oklahoma has called the trip to Glendale a “business trip,” after the team struggled in past BCS bowl games.

“We look at it like, ‘This is our national championship, this is our time to prove everything to all the doubters and everybody that says we can’t win a BCS bowl game,” Travis Lewis said.

Bob Stoops said his team understands the significance of the game and their well prepared for the undertaking of the University of Connecticut.

The Huskies, on the other hand, know they’re the underdogs as they face the Big 12 Champions.

“I say it definitely motivates us, when you see people down talking on the not only the Big East, but UConn,” said tailback Jordan Todman. “At the end of the day, we won the Big East, rightfully ours. And we belong here.”

The Sooners’ DeMarco Murray knows his team has a bull’s eye on their backs heading into the Fiesta Bowl and they’ll likely face a focused UConn team on Jan. 1.

“Anytime a team plays Oklahoma, we’re going to get their best shot,” Murray said. “They want to beat us, they can put their name out there.”
