What You Need to Know?.

Kansas’ first season under new head coach Turner Gill is less successful than they had hoped. The Jayhawks have scored more than 16 points this season just three times, but all three came in KU’s three wins. Kansas is ranked tenth or lower in the Big 12 in every offensive statistical category, and dead last in total offense and scoring offense. This will be senior day for the Jayhawks, so their players will have something to play for Saturday, despite their inability to become bowl eligible.

The Cowboys are heading to Kansas for what looks like the prototypical trap game. They’re coming off of a big win over Texas, have Bedlam on the horizon and head into a matchup with a team that has nothing to lose. OSU players and coaches were preaching “it’s all about Kansas” all week, but on a team with so many young players focus can still be an issue.

Who You Need to Watch?

Receiver John Wilson has been a playmaker for Kansas all season. The senior wideout has 114 catches for 1,427 yards and five touchdowns through the Jayhawks’ 10 games. Quinn Meacham has started the last three games for KU and threw for a career-high 252 yards and two touchdowns in the come-from-behind win over the Colorado Buffaloes.

There may not have been a matchup that favored Kendall Hunter more than the Kansas Jayhawks. They’re giving up more than 200 yards per game on the ground and the Cowboys’ running back averages 135.6 yards per game in an offense that he is not featured heavily in. Normally consistent kicker Dan Bailey was seemingly out of sorts in the game against Texas. He missed his second field goal of the season and his first career PAT against the Longhorns and it could be attributed to the loss of his trademark orange cleats. The kicker was quick to remind that “routine” and “superstition” are two different things and his new cleats aren’t quite broken in yet.
