STILLWATER, Oklahoma – The Oklahoma State Cowboys announced Thursday that consensus five-star basketball recruit LeBryan Nash has signed a letter of intent with OSU and head coach Travis Ford.

The 6-foot-7 small forward hails from Dallas and is currently ranked the No. 4 recruit in the nation by Rivals.com. Nash becomes the second-highest ranked recruit to ever sign with OSU.

“We’re very excited about LeBryan joining our basketball family here at Oklahoma State,” Ford said in a statement. “It’s been a lot of fun getting to know him and his mom and all his coaches throughout the recruiting process. He’s been very blessed to have a terrific mother (Samantha Nash) who has raised him as a fine young man, and he’s been very fortunate to have great coaches around him who have taught him a lot about the game and a lot about life.”

Scout.com and ESPNU.com also both ranked Nash among the nation’s top 10 recruits and among the top three at his position.

“LeBryan is first and foremost a terrific young man who represents himself very well,” Ford said. “He’s also a great basketball player. On the court, he’s one of the most talented players I’ve seen in a very long time. He can play multiple positions, from point guard to two-guard to three-guard to any position on the court that you’d like for him to play. He’s just great with the ball in his hands, from scoring to passing.”

Nash was named to the 2010 USA Basketball Men’s U18 National Team in June, and averaged eight points in five games for the American squad that won the gold medal in San Antonio, Texas.

“From all the years I’ve been in this profession recruiting players of an elite status, he’s the most talented and skilled player I’ve ever recruited,” said OSU associate head coach Butch Pierre, Nash’s primary recruiter. “From a maturity standpoint, he’s an impact guy who makes players around him better.”

A two-time All-State selection by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, Nash averaged 20.2 points, 11.5 rebounds and 5.5 per game as a junior last season. Nash led Lincoln High School to the regional finals in 2008 and has a cumulative record of 82-18 with the Tigers.

“One thing I’ve always said to LeBryan, I think he’s too unselfish at times, because he loves winning,” Ford said. “Anytime you talk to LeBryan, it’s about winning and he loves to win. He’s got a great competitive nature. We’re just very excited about what he brings to our basketball program as a person and as a player. Obviously, he’s got a great future ahead of him.”
