ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – In a series that has featured nothing but blowouts, the trend continued Friday as the Oklahoma City RedHawks fell 12-3 to the Albuquerque Isotopes.

The Isotopes (66-66) jumped on the board early and never looked back. Scott Van Slyke drove home the first run with a single in the second inning, while home runs by Justin Sellers and John Lindsay in the third quickly gave Albuquerque a 4-0 lead.

The Isotopes continued to pile on, scoring two more runs in the fourth and another in the fifth to extend the advantage to 7-0.

The RedHawks (70-62) finally got on the board in the sixth inning on a three-run homer by Hernan Iribarren, but they did not produce any more runs for the rest of the night.

Albuquerque added a total of five more runs in the seventh and eighth innings and failed to score in just two frames.

Doug Mathis (5-6) was credited with the loss after getting pounded for seven runs on 11 hits in five innings. Tim Corcoran (8-8) finished with the win, giving up three runs on six hits in 5.2 innings.

Friday’s contest was the third in a five-game series, all of which have ended with at least a seven-run differential. Albuquerque’s win also cut the RedHawks division lead to four games with 11 games left to play. The teams will continue their series at 8:05 p.m. Saturday.
