Drillers Ride Early Lead to Win over Travelers
Tulsa scored five runs in the second inning to grab the win over Arkansas.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas -- Tulsa used a big second inning to propel themselves to a 7-5 win Thursday over the Arkansas Travelers.
After Arkansas (53-76) took a one-run lead in the bottom of the first, Tulsa (62-66) scored five in the second to create a big lead. In the third at-bat of the innings, Warren Schaeffer singled to center field to bring Michael Mitchell home from third.
Three at-bats later, Charles Blackmon doubled to left field to score two and take a 3-1 lead. In the next at-bat, Jordan Pacheco doubled to left to bring two more in to push the lead to four runs.
The Travelers put up two runs in the bottom of the second, but Tulsa answered with two unanswered in the third and the fourth to take a 7-3 lead.
Tulsa got 5.1 innings from starter Keith Weiser (9-8) who allowed three earned runs on six hits in the win. Trevor Reckling (2-5) allowed 10 hits and three earned runs in his five-inning loss for the Travelers.
The Drillers close the four-game series at 7:10 p.m. Friday before returning to Tulsa Saturday for their last home stand of the season.
