ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – The Oklahoma City RedHawks’ bats came alive Thursday in an 8-1 win over the Albuquerque Isotopes.
The RedHawks (70-61) started hot, nearly batting around in the first inning. The first five batters of the game all reached base, and Chris Davis drove two of them home with a double to give Oklahoma City an early lead.
The Isotopes (65-66) responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Michael Restrovich, but OKC immediately answered. Max Ramirez delivered a two-run single with two outs in the second inning to stretch the lead to 4-1. The action died down significantly after that.
Neither team scored again until the seventh inning, when Ryan Garko unloaded the bases with a double to score three runs and extend the lead to six runs. Esteban German added an RBI single in the eighth to finish the scoring.
The win breaks a cold streak for the RedHawks, who had scored just five runs in their last two games combined. They will continue their series in Albuquerque at 8:05 p.m. Friday.
