ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – The Oklahoma City RedHawks struggled in every facet of the game Wednesday, leading to an 11-3 blowout at the hands of the Albuquerque Isotopes.

The Isotopes (65-65) opened the scoring in the first inning with an unearned run thanks to a throwing error by Ryan Garko. Thinks got much worse for the RedHawks (69-61) from there.

Albuquerque launched three home runs in the span of four batters in the second inning, plating four runs and quickly stretching the lead to 5-0. The Isotopes added another four runs in the fourth thanks to a two-run double by Ivan De Jesus Jr., followed by Russ Mitchell’s second homer of the day.

As Oklahoma City’s pitching continued to have problems, so did the offense. The RedHawks did not get their first hit of the game until the fifth inning and finally got on the scoreboard in the sixth.

After the first three batters of the inning walked, Chris Davis drove one home with a sacrifice fly. Max Ramirez delivered a two-run single later in the inning, giving OKC three runs in the frame on only one hit.

The Isotopes continued to pour salt on the wound in the eighth, when De Jesus Jr. launched the team’s fifth home run of the night to finish the game’s scoring.

Brandon McCarthy (3-1) struggled in his first loss of the season, giving up eight earned runs on nine hits in only five innings. Charlie Hauger (3-2) gave up all three of OKC’s runs on just two hits in six innings.

The RedHawks have now lost two games in a row, but will continue their series in Albuquerque at 7:35 p.m. Thursday.
