New York – The Tulsa Shock’s problems closing out games continued Thursday night, as the Shock fell 95-85 to the New York Liberty.
Despite Tulsa’s six-game losing streak, it has had a trend of staying close and even leading for large portions of its games.
That trend continued Thursday, with the Shock leading for most of the game. Guard Shanna Crossley hit a 3 to put the Shock up 59-57 midway through the third quarter.
But that was the last lead the Shock would enjoy, as the Liberty started a 20-4 run to end the third quarter and begin the fourth.
With 2:47 to play, Shock guard Ivory Latta hit a jumper to cut the Liberty lead down to 84-80, but it was as close as the Shock would come for the remainder of the contest.
Crossley led the Shock with 21 points in the loss, going 5-for-5 from 3-point range in the process.
Tulsa had three other players in double figures and even outrebounded the Liberty 32-30, but New York had six double-figure scorers and shot 51 percent from the field.
The Shock will host the Chicago Sky and look to break a six-game losing streak in its season finale Saturday. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at the BOK Center.
