Stillwater, OKLAHOMA -- A judge sentenced former Oklahoma State basketball coach Sean Sutton Friday to three years of probation, 100 hours of community service and $2,850 in fines.
Sutton was arrested in February for illegally obtaining prescription drugs. The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Authorities reported Sutton picked up painkillers, using another person’s alias.
While Sutton was prescribed pain killers at one point, but had become addicted to them.
“At some point in the last year and a half, I crossed the line,” Sutton said.
Sutton was charged with four felonies, but later worked out a plea deal in which he agreed to testify against two people who were allegedly supplying him with the illegal substances.
On Friday, he spoke to the media for the first time about his arrest, addiction and rehab. He told reporters his lowest point came when he saw the narcotics officers pull up behind him.
