NORMAN, Oklahoma – Former University of Oklahoma linebacker Dewey Selmon was inducted into the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic Hall of Fame on Tuesday night in San Francisco.
The former Sooners linebacker became the third player from the university to be inducted.
An Academic All-American in 1975, Selmon has been active in a number of community efforts in the Norman area, including construction at the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History and fundraising efforts at Norman’s Food and Shelter for Friends.
He has also been involved with more broad scale efforts including the United Way, the American Lung Association and the Ronald McDonald House.
Selmon, who played six seasons in the NFL, was one of four inductees at the event.
