Oklahoma City RedHawks Downed by Albuquerque

Former heavyweight boxing champion Joe Frazier's visit to the Brick was not enough as the Isotopes beat the RedHawks.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma City RedHawks suffered an 8-3 loss to Albuquerque Saturday.

The Isotopes did most of their damage by scoring five runs in the first inning. Russ Mitchell hit a two-run double and scored on the next play to cap the inning for Albuquerque.

Mitchell battered Oklahoma City a little more in the eighth inning with an RBI groundout to put the Isotopes up 8-2. He finished 1-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored.

Brandon Boggs scored two of the RedHawks three runs. Boggs crossed the plate in the sixth inning and again in the eighth. Esteban German scored the first Oklahoma City run in the bottom of the first.

Geoff Geary (3-5) gets tagged with the loss after giving up six runs, five earned in four innings.

Seth Etherton allowed two earned runs in six innings of work to gain the win.

Former heavyweight boxing champion Joe Frazier threw out the first pitch and signed autographs.

The two teams conclude their series at 4:05 p.m. Sunday.
