WACO, Texas -- Oklahoma State’s struggles in Waco continued Saturday with a 12-7 loss to the Baylor Bears.

OSU (29-25, 8-18) jumped out to a 5-1 lead, but Baylor (30-21, 11-13)put up two runs each in innings three through seven to build a nearly insurmountable lead over the Cowboys.

Oklahoma State struck first with a Luis Uribe two-run home run in the top of the first. Baylor responded by scoring a run without recording a hit in the bottom half of the inning. Brooks Pinkard reached on a fielder’s choice, advanced to second on a throwing error, stole third and scored on a passed ball to cut the lead to 2-1.

Josh Botts added two more to the OSU lead with a two-run home run to right field. Three at-bats later Uribe doubled to center field to record his third RBI of the game and give OSU a 5-1 lead.

Then the Baylor offense came to life, scoring 10 straight runs, including five home runs to take a commanding 11-5 lead. Another solo home run in the bottom of the eighth – Logan Vick’s second home run of the game – pushed the lead to seven runs.

Kevin Chambers (4-2) only lasted two innings in his outing for OSU, giving up four earned runs – three of them home runs – on four hits. Willie Kempf (6-2) received a win for the game, giving up just three hits and no earned runs in his 5.1 innings pitched.

The Cowboys tried to mount a comeback in the top of the ninth, but after scoring two runs Dean Green flied out to left field to end the game.
