OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma – The in-state rivalry will continue on the indoor football field. Oklahoma City (2-4) will playTulsa
(3-3) Saturday at 7 p.m. at the BOK Center.
The Yard Dawgz enter the game with plenty of incentive, a victory would move them into a first place tie with the Talons in the Southwestern division. The Yard Dawgz would like to bounce back after losing a close game to Spokane last weekend 68-63.
“This is our most important game in many ways”, Yard Dawgz Head Coach Sparky McEwen said.
Penalties have been the Achilles heel for the Yard Dawgz in the early season. Oklahoma City leads the league in penalty yards, averaging 86 yards a game. Coach McEwen says some of those numbers are overblown.
“I’ve addressed it with the ball club, the off-sides, those are discipline penalties’, McEwen added.
Tommy Grady continues to improve his numbers at the quarterback position. The former OU quarterback has thrown 35 touchdown passes and only five interceptions. Wide Receiver Al Hunt is OKC’s main threat on offense, with 12 receiving touchdowns and five rushing scores. Hunt ranks seventh in the league in scoring with 102 points.
Tulsa leads the overall series against Oklahoma City 10-5 and this will be their first meeting since they joined the AFL.
