LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas -- The Tulsa Drillers and Arkansas Travelers endured a four-hour rain delay before beginning their game Sunday evening and then had to play 10 innings to decide a winner. The Travelers rallied for a 4-3 victory preventing a Tulsa four-game sweep.
The Drillers carried a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the ninth. Abel Nieves opened the ninth with a leadoff single off reliever Scott Rice, Alberto Rosario attempted a sacrifice bunt. The bunt was back to Rice, but the Tulsa pitcher's throw to second sailed into center field. It marked the third error of the game for the Drillers and left runners at first and third. Rice then uncorked a wild pitch that allowed Moore to come home with the tying run.
Another defensive miscue allowed the Travelers to plate the winning run in the tenth. With the bases loaded, Anthony Jackson fielded a ground ball at second, but his throw to the plate was wild, allowing the game-winning run to score. Jackson was charged with Tulsa's fourth error.
Scott Beerer scored the game's first run on Bronson Sardinha's double in the fourth inning.
Drillers' starting pitcher Keith Weiser blanked the Travs through the first five innings before running into trouble in the bottom of the sixth. Efran Navarro hit a two-run home run to give Arkansas a 2-1 lead.
Keil Roling smacked a two-run homer in the top of the seventh as the Drillers took a 3-2 advantage.
Stuart Pomeranz (1-3) wass tagged with the loss for the Drillers after giving up the game-winning run. Michael Kohn earned the win after pitching two scoreless innings.
