STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma State ended the regular season on a sour note after getting swept by Texas A&M 3-1 and 2-1 Saturday.
A&M 3, OSU 1
One swing of the bat changed the game for the No. 20 Aggies in the first game. Rhiannon Kliesing’s three-run homer in the top of third proved to be the difference maker.
The No. 11 Cowgirls gained the lead in the bottom of the second when Tamara Brown scored on a sacrifice fly, but OSU managed just two hits in the first game.
Anna Whiddon (21-7) was tagged with the loss for OSU after allowing three earned runs while going the distance.
Melissa Dumezich threw a complete game giving up just one earned run, while earning the win.
A&M 2, OSU 1
The second game was nearly identical to the first contest.
Kliesing blasted a two-run homer in the top of the fourth to put the Aggies on top 2-0. She was the only player with multiple RBIs in both games.
Oklahoma State cut the lead in half in the bottom of the inning. Mariah Gearhart drove in Amy Graham on a single to center. However, the Cowgirls were not able to convert on any of the Aggies three errors.
Dumezich (16-1) had a repeat performance of the first game giving up only one run while going the distance.
Kat Espinosa (19-5) took the loss after allowing two runs, despite throwing a complete game.
The loss drops the Cowgirls into the fourth seed for the upcoming Big 12 Tournament. The conference tourney starts Thursday in Oklahoma City.
