NORMAN, Oklahoma -- The Sooners’ Ryan Gipson pitched for 5.2 innings Tuesday as Oklahoma shutout the Dallas Baptist Patriots 14-0.
The freshman pitcher improved to 3-2, giving up only six hits while striking six batters.
Aaron Gilbreath finished with the loss after pitching 3 innings. He gave up six hits and four strikeouts.
The Sooners built a quick lead, posting five runs in the first inning. Danny Black, who went 3-for-3, hit his third homer of the season with a 2-run shot to right field.
OU recorded six more in the bottom of the fifth when Tyler Ogle hit a three-run homerun to put the Sooners ahead 11-0.
Unable to answer, the Patriots witnessed the Sooners seal the win with a three-run homer by Cale Ellis in the bottom of the sixth.
The Sooners will next host Kansas State Friday at 6:30 p.m.
