SPRINGFIELD, Missouri -- The Tulsa softball team defeated Missouri State 4-3 Wednesday.
The Golden Hurricane (25-17) held a 4-2 lead heading in to the bottom of the seventh, but Christa Gammon crossed the plate in the Bears half of the inning to cut the lead to 4-3. MSU (14-25) had a runner on second and the game-winning run at the plate, however, Hurricane pitcher Jackie Lawrence was able to get a game-ending out to preserve the victory.
Christian Timmons drove in two runs and scored another. She finished 1-for-3 with both of her RBIs capping a four-run fourth for the Golden Hurricane.
Lawrence (10-6) earned the win after striking out four batters and allowing nine hits, three earned runs and two walks. Missouri State starter Natalie Rose (4-9) absorbed the loss after giving up three earned runs.
The Golden Hurricane returns to Conference USA action against UCF with a doubleheader beginning at noon Saturday.
