Oklahoma State Tops Oklahoma in Extras

The Cowboys had a three-run lead early in the game, but couldn't keep the Sooners' big bats silent.

STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- The Oklahoma State Cowboys won a non-conference installment of Bedlam Baseball 7-6 on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 10th inning.

The Cowboys (19-12, 3-6) got on the board first in the top of the second when Kevin Chambers singled to right field that scored Kevin David.

Oklahoma (25-8, 5-5) answered with a Garrett Buechele solo home run in the top of the fourth inning, but OSU responded in the next half inning. With two outs and the bases loaded, Davis Duren doubled to left center to score Dusty Harvard, Luis Uribe and Kevin Chambers.

OU once again got on the board with a solo home, this one by Kaleb Herrenthat cut the lead in half. Later in the inning with two outs, Chris Ellison singled up the middle to bring Drew Harrison home and close the deficit to 4-3.

Oklahoma Statetried todistance itself in the bottom of the sixth when Duren hit an RBI single that pushedthe lead back to two runs. The Cowboys then added one more in the bottom of the seventh when David scored on a wild pitch.

Buechele continued to show why he is one of the most feared hitters in the OU lineup, hitting his eighth home run of the season in the top of the eighth, a two run shot that pulled the Sooners back within one run. Oklahoma thentied the game in the top of the ninth when Cody Reine singled home arun and sent the game to extras.

In the bottom of the tenth with two outs, Harvard reached first on an error and advanced to second on a wild pitch.After Ryan Duke walked two batters to load the bases,he continued to struggle in the next at bat and the game ended on a wild pitch that allowed Harvard to score.

Duke would receive the loss after pitching only 1.2 innings. Ian McCarthy was credited with a win, going 1.1 innings, facing four batters, and striking out one.

Oklahoma State is back in action again Friday in Columbia against the Missouri Wildcats for a weekend series, while OU travels to Lubbock to take on Texas Tech.
