STILLWATER, Oklahoma – The Oklahoma State Cowboys struggled to hold on to a lead on Sunday as Texas Tech put up a three-run homer in the final inning to earn the 5-3 win.
The Cowboys (18-12) got on the scoreboard first, after Josh Botts scored off a double by Kevin Chambers in the bottom of the second inning. The Red Raiders (17-18) answered back in the top of the fifth after Jamodrick McGruder scored off a single by Scott LeJeune, tying the game at one.
OSU retook the lead in the bottom of the sixth, after Nico Rosthenhausler hit a two-run homer to left field, putting the Cowboys up 3-1.
Texas Tech earned one run in the top of the eighth to narrow the Cowboys lead to one, after Barrett Barnes scored off a single to left center field by Bonham Hough. OSU's fate was thensealed when LeJeune hit a three-run home run off of Ian McCarthyin the 9th inning.
Texas Tech'sChad Bettis finished with the win after pitching 1 1/3innings. He had one strikeout on the day.
Oklahoma State will host instate rival Oklahoma Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
