The victory marked OSU’s 12th-straight win this season. First baseman Julie Ward and right fielder Megan Castle both hit one-run shots to earn the win.

Ward, who is batting .367 this season, added her eighth homer of the season with Saturday’s hit. She went 2-for-3, earning one RBI and one double. Castle, batting .257 this year, went 1-for-3.

The game remained scoreless until the top of the fifth, when Iowa State’s Sydni Jones hit a homer to open the inning. The home run put the Cyclones up 1-0, while the Cowgirls struggled to respond in the bottom of the inning.

Iowa State’s Rachel Zabriskie recorded the loss after pitching 6 1/3 innings, giving up six hits, striking out three batters and giving up two home runs.
